Interested parties can apply to become an ION member by emailing a written request to ION’s Membership Management Team at: [email protected]. Simply specify in what capacity you would like to contribute to ION’s mission.

Members and nonmembers interested in supporting ION can donate funds through ION’s donation portal, which will be allocated directly and exclusively to environmental conservation, educational, and social support activities in line with ION’s mission. ION also accepts applications from those interested in acting as temporary volunteers in areas of activity support and media development.

All internships are managed by local research members, which may or may not provide housing and meals to interns. Each internship experience is unique and depends on the terms of the specific internship opportunity.

Reservation refunds for travel, activities, and internships are handled exclusively by local service partners. ION does not provide any services to clients directly nor do local service partners act as agents of ION. ION does not assume any responsibility or liability for reservations made with local service partners listed on ION’s website.

Service partners accessible through ION include scuba and free diving charters, spearfishing and line fishing charters, and sailing and captaincy schools. ION also provides access to internships in the areas of wildlife conservation, environmental improvement and research, and lobbying and legislation.

ION maintains relationships with the highest quality service partners around the world to improve access to ocean exploration. As your point of contact during your trip, your local service partner will help you organize every aspect of your trip, from transportation to activities to culinary and cultural experiences, allowing you to stay focused on discovering the wonders of the ocean.
